Instead of applying one fixed number to every contract, it compares your inputs (home resort, point total, and use year) against currently active DVC resale listings from every major broker DVC Market tracks. That means your estimate reflects real market conditions today, not a number that was accurate six months ago.
- Home resort: resale prices per point vary significantly by resort, driven by remaining contract length, resort popularity, and point chart efficiency.
- Use year: contracts with a use year that aligns well with typical vacation timing can carry a premium.
- Points total: smaller contracts often carry a higher price per point than larger ones, since more buyers can afford the lower total cost.
What affects DVC resale value?
- Resort: resorts with limited remaining contract length (e.g. Old Key West's original contracts) trade differently than resorts with decades remaining (e.g. Riviera, Aulani).
- Loaded vs. stripped contracts: a "loaded" contract (banked or current-year points intact) is worth more than a "stripped" contract (points already used) of the same size.
- Blue card vs. white card status: contracts bought resale after a certain point don't carry Disney Collection, Concierge Collection, or Adventures by Disney eligibility.
- Contract expiration date: value declines as a contract approaches its expiration year.
- Riviera-specific restriction: Riviera resale points can only be used to book Riviera itself.
